Canada Crushes France at the Ice Hockey World Championship

In a display of strength, the Canadian ice hockey team, led by Sidney Crosby, achieved a resounding 5-0 victory over France in the World Championship, adding their third consecutive win in the tournament.

The match, played in Stockholm, saw Canada dominate the game from the start, with Sidney Crosby scoring his first goal of the championship.

Bo Horvat stood out with two goals, while Brandon Montour and Will Cuylle also contributed to the score. Goalie Jordan Binnington shone by keeping his net at zero, stopping 15 shots.

Horvat opened the scoring with a backhand goal at 6:32 of the first period. Cuylle extended the lead with a powerful shot from the left circle, making the score 2-0.

Crosby, demonstrating his skill, scored the third Canadian goal on a power play, solidifying his team’s lead.

This is Crosby’s third world championship and the first since he led Canada to gold in 2015.

Horvat added his second goal on a power play at the start of the final period. The New York Islanders player leads the goalscoring table with four goals.

Montour closed the account with a powerful shot.

Canada shares the lead of Group A in Stockholm with Sweden, both with nine points. Canada’s next challenge will be Austria on Thursday. France, for its part, has one point.

In Herning, Denmark, Hungary achieved its first victory of the tournament by defeating Kazakhstan 4-2. Janos Hari of Hungary scored the fastest goal of the championship, at 15 seconds into the game.

Previously, Germany defeated Norway 5-2, securing their third consecutive victory and leading Group B with nine points.

Marc Michaelis and Yasin Ehliz stood out with a goal and an assist each. Wojciech Stachowiak, Joshua Samanski, and Frederik Tiffels also scored for Germany.

Andreas Martinsen and Jacob Berglund scored for Norway, who still have no points.

In Stockholm, Latvia defeated Slovenia 5-2, achieving their second victory in Group A. Slovenia is still looking for their first points.
