Washington Capitals center Dylan Strome experienced an emotional night during Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens. During the intermission of the first period, Strome received the news of the birth of his third daughter from his wife, Tayler.

Visibly emotional and with tears in his eyes, Strome shared his feelings after assisting on three goals in the Capitals’ 8-4 victory. He mentioned the initial concern for everyone’s well-being and the helplessness of not being able to be present at the moment. The couple named their daughter Sutton Kimberley. Strome explained that his wife felt the first symptoms two hours before the start of the game and gave birth at 7:30 p.m. He regretted not being able to return in time and highlighted the sacrifices that Tayler makes while he is away from home for his career.

Strome emphasized how difficult it is to be away at such a time, wishing to be present for the birth of his children. He highlighted the help Tayler provides to his two older children while he is on the road. He acknowledged that hockey was not his main concern during the first period, but the news was incredible. Strome contributed to the game by winning a faceoff that led to Alex Ovechkin’s first goal and assisted the captain in a 2-on-1 that put the score at 6-4.
