Spencer Carbery Wins the Jack Adams Award 2024-25

Washington Capitals coach Spencer Carbery was awarded the prestigious 2024-25 Jack Adams Award on Saturday. This recognition is given to the NHL coach who is considered to have made the most significant contribution to his team’s success.

In what he believed was an end-of-season interview, Carbery, 43, was surprised by his wife, Casey, and their children, Hudson and Vivian, who presented him with the award.

The excitement continued as family members from the United States and Canada joined the celebration. Carbery led the Capitals to an impressive 51-22-9 (111 points) record in the season, securing first place in the Eastern Conference in his second year as coach. He becomes the fourth coach in franchise history to win the award, following in the footsteps of Bryan Murray (1983-84), Bruce Boudreau (2007-08), and Barry Trotz (2015-16).

In addition, Carbery is the first person to be recognized as coach of the year in the ECHL, AHL, and NHL.

The Jack Adams Award winner is selected by the members of the NHL Broadcasters’ Association.

Carbery received 81 first-place votes out of a total of 103 ballots cast, accumulating 464 points. Scott Arniel of the Winnipeg Jets finished second with 249 points, followed by Martin St. Louis of the Montreal Canadiens with 66 points.

The Capitals were eliminated in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, losing to the Carolina Hurricanes in five games.
