Canada Wins Bronze at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championship

ST. PAUL, Minn. – In an exciting third-place game, Canada defeated Finland with a score of 6-3, securing the bronze medal at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championship.

Sam O’Reilly shined with two goals, while Gavin McKenna and Michael Hage led the offense with four points each.

McKenna scored a goal and three assists, and Hage contributed four vital assists to the Canadian triumph.

Zayne Parekh also made his mark on the game, scoring a goal and an assist, which allowed him to break the Canadian record for points by a defenseman, accumulating a total of 13 points thanks to six goals and seven assists. Previously, Alex Pietrangelo held the record with 12 points in 2010.

The gold medal match was played between the Czech Republic and Sweden, in the first all-European final since 2016. The Czech Republic reached the final after defeating Canada with a score of 6-4, while Sweden secured their place in the final after defeating Finland in a penalty shootout with a score of 4-3.
