Charlie McAvoy, Bruins defenseman, suffers injury after puck impact
In a shocking moment during the game between the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens, Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy took a hard hit to the mouth from a slap shot. The incident occurred midway through the second period of Saturday night’s game, forcing McAvoy to leave the game and not return. Bruins coach Marco Sturm reported after his team’s 3-2 victory that McAvoy was “fine” and was undergoing medical tests. The shot that hit McAvoy came from a one-timer by Noah Dobson, which apparently deflected off Boston forward Mark Kastelic before hitting the defenseman. McAvoy reacted immediately by covering his face and falling to the ice, while the team’s medical staff rushed to his aid. The 27-year-old American player was quickly taken to the locker room after bleeding on the court. His teammate, Nikita Zadorov, was seen trying to recover possible lost teeth.“We will try to bring him home as soon as possible, hopefully tonight with us, but other than that, let’s hope he’s okay,” Sturm stated.
