Bob Myers Leaves ESPN to Chair Sports at Harris Blitzer

Former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers will leave his role as a basketball analyst at ESPN to become president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. This new position will allow the executive, known for his achievements in basketball, to work in several of the world’s most important sports leagues. Myers will assume a full-time role with the aim of maximizing opportunities and strengthening processes for the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) portfolio. This includes the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, the English Premier League’s Crystal Palace F.C., and an investment in the NASCAR team, Joe Gibbs Racing. Additionally, Myers will continue to support Josh Harris, managing partner of the Washington Commanders, after having contributed to the creation of the leadership team that has guided the NFL franchise towards prominence. The arrival of Myers, with his reputation as a respected and powerful figure in the industry, strengthens HBSE’s executive ranks. He will work strategically with ownership and the senior leadership groups of each team. Although he will continue to reside in California, he will travel regularly to HBSE/Commanders properties and events.

Bob Myers helped build the Warriors teams that won four NBA titles and worked as an analyst at ESPN after leaving his position at Golden State in 2023. Myers spent the first 14 years of his career as a sports agent before moving to a front office position with the Warriors in 2011. During his 12 years with Golden State, Myers rose to the rank of president and general manager, building rosters that won NBA titles in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022, and earning NBA Executive of the Year awards in 2015 and 2017. In 2024, Myers served as an advisor to Harris in building the organizational infrastructure of the Commanders, including the hiring of general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn. Myers also began working as a basketball analyst for ESPN after leaving his position with the Warriors in 2023, and participated in the network’s pre-game and post-game basketball shows.
