Xavier Worthy Surprises with His Rapid Recovery
In an unexpected turn, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has participated in Thursday’s practice, less than a week after suffering a dislocated right shoulder. Worthy, with additional protection on his right arm, made several receptions on short passes from passing game coordinator Joe Bleymaier, and another member of the team staff. Most notably, he participated in a drill with the other receivers at the start of individual practice. This exercise tests skills beyond speed, such as agility, dexterity, and concentration. Each receiver runs a 5-yard route, returning to the ball between two dummies. Assistants with pads attempt to deflect the ball with padded sticks at the time of the reception. Worthy demonstrated a good performance in this exercise on Thursday.
Worthy, a second-year player, is expected to be listed as a limited participant on the injury report. The injury occurred after a collision with Travis Kelce during the game against the Los Angeles Chargers.Coach Andy Reid confirmed that Worthy will not need surgery and that the team does not plan to put him on the injured reserve list. The Chiefs are already facing difficulties at the receiver position. Jalen Royals will not play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday due to a knee injury, and Rashee Rice, the team’s star receiver, is serving a six-game suspension. If Worthy can’t play on Sunday, the Chiefs are hoping for his quick return, possibly in Week 3 against the New York Giants. It’s unfortunate how it happened. Kelce feels bad, but Xavier, like no one else, understands that these things happen. What we have to do is move forward and adapt to the situation.

Xavier has been a key piece in training camp and in practice. When you practice, you have many repetitions and now you have to adjust. Nobody is going to feel sorry for us.
