KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chiefs receiver Xavier Worthy is progressing in his recovery from a dislocated right shoulder, taking a positive step towards a possible return to the field this Sunday against the New York Giants. Worthy, who suffered the injury in the first game of the season, participated without restrictions in Wednesday’s practice, according to coach Andy Reid. Unlike the previous week, Worthy was seen running routes during practice without additional protection on his right arm. The Chiefs are optimistic about Worthy’s return for Sunday’s game, and he is expected to wear a harness.
Worthy suffered the injury after a collision with tight end Travis Kelce in the Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs, with a 0-2 record, have struggled, partly because Mahomes is playing with a limited group of receivers. Jalen Royals missed the first two games due to a right knee injury, while Rashee Rice is serving a six-game suspension. Royals also participated in Wednesday’s training, being the first time they have done so since the start of the regular season.More than anything, having him on the field is a general threat. At any moment, he can take a pass, short or long, and take it to the end zone.

Mahomes celebrated his 30th birthday on Wednesday without much fanfare, but he is eager to see how he can improve the offense if Worthy and Royals contribute positively. It’s pretty good. We’ll see how he performs. He’s been out for a while, so I’d like to see how he moves.

The spotlight is on you, the lights get brighter, and you can show who you are. It’s a great opportunity for us. With the start we’ve had, we want to show that we are a better team than we’ve shown in these first two weeks. ‘Sunday Night Football’ would be the perfect time to do it.
