Terrell Williams, Patriots Defensive Coordinator, Absent Due to Unforeseen Circumstances

The New England Patriots defensive coordinator, Terrell Williams, will not be with the team this week due to unforeseen circumstances. This was announced by head coach Mike Vrabel on Wednesday. In March, Williams experienced a “health issue” that kept him away from the Patriots throughout the spring. However, Vrabel clarified that his current absence is not related to that incident.

“Something came up and we will have to do more tests. We believe it’s best, and I think it’s best, that he focuses on that and we prepare for Miami with what we’ve been doing,” explained Vrabel, specifying that the problem arose earlier in the week.

Vrabel added that the team prioritizes the well-being of Williams and his families, avoiding speculation about the medical situation. They will focus on obtaining results and determining the next steps at a medical level. The Patriots, with a record of 0-1, will face the Miami Dolphins (0-1). Vrabel indicated that he will detail how the coaching staff will take responsibility for directing the defense during the game later in the week. Zak Kuhr, the inside linebackers coach, took over Williams’ responsibilities in the spring. Vrabel mentioned that both he and Kuhr have been working with the defensive staff to plan for the future, and described Kuhr as a “fantastic” coach. The Patriots suffered a defeat against the Raiders with a score of 20-13 in the season opener.
