Stefon Diggs Absent from Patriots Voluntary Workouts

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs did not show up for Wednesday’s organized team activity (OTA), a day after a video of him on a boat, surrounded by women and displaying an unidentified pink substance, was made public on social media.

It’s something we’re aware of and obviously want to make big decisions on and off the field.

Mike Vrabel, Patriots Coach

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel, when questioned about the video, stated that the team is aware of the situation. “Any conversation I’ve had with Stefon will remain between him, me, and the club,” Vrabel added, confirming that he has been in communication with Diggs.

The Patriots signed 31-year-old Diggs to a three-year, $69 million contract in March. Diggs is in the process of rehabilitating an ACL tear suffered in Week 8 of last season with the Houston Texans.

Vrabel indicated that they are working to get Diggs ready to play. “When he’s here, we’ll coach him and get him ready to play,” he commented.

The Patriots hope Diggs elevates a receiving corps that finished last in the NFL with 1,723 receiving yards in 2024.

Diggs leads a list of receivers that also includes Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas, and Kyle Williams. A strong competition for the additional spots is expected among Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte, and rookies Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker, among others.

Diggs’ streak of six consecutive 1,000-yard seasons ended last season due to an ACL injury. Until that point, Diggs ranked seventh in the NFL in receptions (47) and second in receiving yards (496) on the Texans.

The Patriots haven’t had a 1,000-yard receiver since Julian Edelman in 2019.
