The Minnesota Vikings have made significant moves in their roster, especially at the quarterback position, with the aim of strengthening their team for the upcoming season. The changes include the addition of Carson Wentz and the transfer of Sam Howell to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Vikings Bolster Quarterback Position
The Minnesota team has signed Carson Wentz, a veteran with NFL experience, and traded Sam Howell to the Eagles. In return, the Vikings received a fifth-round pick from 2026 and a seventh-round pick from 2027, as well as a sixth-round pick from 2026 from the Eagles. These moves give the Vikings more resources to look for a veteran receiver to complete their roster. There has been speculation about interest in Adam Thielen, a player for the Carolina Panthers, although the team has been reluctant to let him go. In addition to these changes, the Vikings released Brett Rypien, another player in the quarterback position. He did not play in the final preseason game against the Tennessee Titans. Wentz, selected in the 2016 draft, had his best season in 2017, finishing third in the MVP voting. He has played for several teams in his career, including the Commanders, Rams, and Chiefs. In his nine seasons in the NFL, Wentz has thrown for 22,410 yards, 153 touchdowns, and 67 interceptions.Wentz also coincided with the Vikings quarterbacks coach, Josh McCown, when they both played for the Eagles in 2019.
