Aaron Jones Activated by the Vikings Before Game Against the Chargers
The Minnesota Vikings made an important decision before their matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium. The team activated running back Aaron Jones to add him to their 53-player roster this Thursday, just four hours before the start of the game. To make room on the team, the Vikings cut young linebacker Kobe King. Jones, who participated in the first two games of the season, accumulating 90 yards from the line of scrimmage and scoring a touchdown, suffered a hamstring injury on September 14, during the game against the Atlanta Falcons. During Jones’ absence, Jordan Mason took 66% of the snaps as the Vikings’ running back. Mason currently leads the team in rushing yards, with 380 and four touchdowns, and is expected to continue being the primary ball carrier despite Jones’ return. On Monday, the Vikings opened the 21-day practice window for Jones. The team opted for lighter practice sessions, instead of a full practice, due to the short week.Coach Kevin O’Connell commented that the scheduling would not be an obstacle. O’Connell added that Jones, being a veteran player, knows his body and knows what he needs to be ready to play. He’s a player who doesn’t need to be tested excessively.
