Aaron Jones Activated by the Vikings Before Game Against the Chargers

The Minnesota Vikings have activated running back Aaron Jones to their 53-man roster this Thursday, just four hours before facing the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium. To make room on the team, the Vikings cut rookie linebacker Kobe King. Jones, who participated in the first two games of the season, accumulated 90 yards from the line of scrimmage and a touchdown, but suffered a hamstring injury on September 14 against the Atlanta Falcons. During his four-game absence, backup Jordan Mason took 66% of the Vikings’ running back snaps. Mason leads the Vikings in yards per carry, with 380 yards and four touchdowns, and is expected to continue to be the primary ball carrier even with Jones’ return. On Monday, the Vikings opened the 21-day practice window for Jones. Although the team did not hold a full practice during the short week, opting for a series of walk-throughs, coach Kevin O’Connell assured on Tuesday that the schedule would not be an obstacle.

He’s a player who doesn’t really need to go out and be tested too much because of his rehab and the work he’s done on the sidelines. He’s a veteran player. He knows what he needs to do. He knows how he needs to feel.
