Aaron Jones to Reserve List Due to Injury

The Minnesota Vikings have placed running back Aaron Jones on the injured reserve list due to a hamstring injury.

This situation will leave him out of action for a minimum of four games.

Given Jones’ absence, Jordan Mason is expected to handle the majority of the carries.

The Vikings also plan to re-sign Cam Akers, who has had two separate stints with the team.

Jones, 30, suffered the injury in Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, where he gained 23 yards on five carries.

In the Week 1 victory against the Chicago Bears, Jones had a similar performance, rushing for 23 yards on five attempts.

Mason, acquired via a trade with the 49ers in March, signed a two-year contract with the Vikings. In the first two games with Minnesota, he has accumulated 98 yards on 24 carries and three receptions for 15 yards.

Zavier Scott is also available in the Vikings’ running back corps.

Ty Chandler is on the injured reserve list due to a knee injury.

Akers, 26 years old, has played in Minnesota in two periods (2023 and 2024), joining the team through trades during the season.

The Vikings have been active this week due to injuries to J.J. McCarthy and Jones. The team also reached an agreement with quarterback Desmond Ridder.
