Travis Hunter: The Jaguars’ Dual Threat Igniting Excitement
In EverBank Stadium, under the lights of last Friday, Jacksonville Jaguars rookie receiver Travis Hunter starred in a historic moment. After a play, Hunter left the field, waiting his turn to return, but this time, he did it differently. He took off his number 12 jersey and put on a white one, preparing to play as a cornerback. This change, which occurred during a scrimmage, marked the first time Hunter played on both sides of the ball during an NFL practice. With 43 yards in 17 offensive plays and 21 plays on defense, Hunter is set to become the first regular two-way NFL player since the 1960s. So far, everything is going according to plan for the Jaguars and Hunter himself. The plan of coach Liam Coen and his team has been meticulous, with Hunter rotating between offense and defense, even participating in special teams sessions with coaches from the other side. Defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile praised Hunter’s adaptation to the program. The next step for Hunter is to demonstrate his ability in an NFL game, with the possibility of debuting in the first preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.“They really trust me. They give me a lot of work, but I just have to go out there and keep attacking the work they give me,” Hunter commented.
