Titans Lose L’Jarius Sneed to Injury
The Tennessee Titans have placed cornerback L’Jarius Sneed on the injured reserve list, which will keep him out of action for at least the next four games. Sneed suffered a quadriceps injury during the third quarter of the Titans’ 31-13 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 7. This is not the first time Sneed has faced a similar injury. Last season, a quadriceps injury landed him on the injured reserve list in Week 5, missing the remaining 12 games. Before the start of this season, he began training camp on the physically unable to perform list, but was activated on August 20 after passing a physical evaluation. In May, Sneed underwent surgery to treat the quadriceps injury and also a knee cleaning procedure. These procedures prevented him from participating in the offseason activities and minicamp. In August, Sneed stated that the quadriceps injury was a thing of the past, and that he would now focus on maintaining his knee. In the seven games this season, Sneed has recorded 26 tackles and three passes defended. In last week’s game against the Patriots, Sneed was the closest defender on two touchdown receptions. One of them was a 39-yard catch by Kayshon Boutte.Sneed’s injury occurred while he was in deep coverage on a route by Patriots receiver Kyle Williams. Before the injury, Sneed had played 33 plays and has been on the field for 340 (78.5%) of the plays this season. The Titans acquired Sneed from the Kansas City Chiefs last year in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and a swap of seventh-round picks in 2024. Shortly after the trade, Sneed signed a four-year, $76 million contract with the Titans. Darrell Baker Jr. will likely be Sneed’s replacement, playing at the right cornerback position alongside Jalyn Armour-Davis.Sneed had dirty eyes on that play. We were in probably our best coverage to play at that time… the safety on the opposite side should have crossed and been on the post. So, we didn’t have a man on the post and Sneed had dirty eyes on that play… looking in the backfield, but that play should have never happened. It should have been intercepted.
