NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans have placed cornerback L’Jarius Sneed on injured reserve, which will keep him out of action for at least the next four games.
Sneed suffered a quadriceps injury in the third quarter of the Titans’ 31-13 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 7.
The player had already experienced a similar situation. Last season, a quadriceps injury sent him to the reserve list, missing the last 12 games. Despite this, the veteran cornerback began training camp on the physically unable to perform list, but was activated on August 20.
Sneed underwent surgery to treat the quadriceps injury and also a knee cleaning procedure in May. This prevented him from participating in offseason activities and minicamp. In August, Sneed stated that the quadriceps injury was a thing of the past, and that from then on, he would focus on knee maintenance.
In the seven games this season, Sneed has recorded 26 tackles and three passes defended.
Sneed was the closest defender on two Patriots touchdown receptions last week, one of which was a 39-yard catch. Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson commented on the play, pointing out that Sneed was not covering correctly and that the situation should have resulted in an interception.
Sneed’s injury occurred while covering Kyle Williams. Before the injury, Sneed had played 33 plays and has been on the field for 340 (78.5%) of the plays this season.
The Titans acquired Sneed from the Kansas City Chiefs last year in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and a swap of seventh-round picks in 2024. Sneed signed a four-year, $76 million contract with the Titans shortly after the trade.
Darrell Baker Jr. will likely replace Sneed, playing on the opposite side of Jalyn Armour-Davis.
