Stingley Jr. Predicts Interception Dominance for Texans Secondary
Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. did not hesitate to express his confidence in the team’s secondary’s potential. Stingley Jr. anticipates an outstanding performance for the upcoming season, driven by the team’s improvements and cohesion. The Texans reinforced their defense with the addition of safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, adding to a unit that already stood out last season, achieving the second-highest number of interceptions in the league (19). Before the arrival of Gardner-Johnson, the secondary had key players like Kamari Lassiter and Calen Bullock, who had outstanding seasons as rookies, along with Jalen Pitre and Stingley Jr. himself, who was recognized as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. The addition of Gardner-Johnson, who recorded six interceptions last season, promises to further elevate the unit’s performance. Coach DeMeco Ryans values the experience and impact that Gardner-Johnson brings to the team. The combination of talent and experience in the secondary bodes well for a promising season for the Texans.Based on last year, and with the players we have now, we should lead in interceptions, probably by at least 10 or 15.
