Jimmie Ward, Texans Player, Arrested on Assault Charges
Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward was arrested at 5:38 a.m. in Montgomery County, Texas, and faces charges of aggravated assault, according to the county jail website. The incident, which involves domestic violence, occurred in Magnolia. Ward, 33 years old, remains in custody.Ward signed a two-year, $13 million contract with the Texans as a free agent, after having spent his first nine seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He joined the team to play under DeMeco Ryans in his first season as a coach in Houston, as they had both worked together in San Francisco. In 2023, Ward participated in 10 games and achieved an interception. The Texans extended his contract for one year in August 2024. Currently, his impact on the salary cap is $5,669,118.“We are aware of the report involving Jimmie Ward,” stated Omar Majzoub, senior director of communications for the Texans. “We are gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.”
