Jimmie Ward, Texans Player, Arrested for the Second Time in Two Months

Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward was arrested on Thursday night, marking his second arrest in the last two months. According to the Montgomery County, Texas, jail website, Ward was arrested in connection with a serious offense. No bail was set, but Ward will be released by court order on Friday.

Ward was arrested because he tested positive for alcohol, violating the conditions of his previous release.

Steve Jackson, Ward’s lawyer
Ward’s lawyer, Steve Jackson, reported that the arrest was due to a positive alcohol test, violating the conditions of his pre-trial release. Jackson clarified that Ward is not facing new charges and was unaware of the ban on consuming alcohol. The Texans have not issued comments about the incident. The first arrest of Ward occurred on June 12 at his residence in Magnolia, Texas, on charges of assault on a family member, impeding breathing. A woman reported Ward for assault, strangulation, and threats. Ward was released after posting a $30,000 bond. Ward’s attorney mentioned that the case will be presented to a grand jury on August 31 and that Ward would be “vindicated”. In June, the NFL stated it was aware of Ward’s arrest and in contact with the Texans. Houston’s general manager, Nick Caserio, stated that the team would allow the legal process to run its course. Ward, who is on the physically unable to perform list due to a foot injury, signed a two-year, $13 million contract with the Texans in 2023. Prior to this, he played nine seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. In 2023, Ward participated in 10 games and achieved one interception. The Texans extended his contract for one year in August 2024, but his season was cut short by a significant foot injury in Week 16 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
