No Return Date for Joe Mixon: Nick Caserio Update
Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio reported this Tuesday that there is still no defined date for the return of running back Joe Mixon. Mixon, who did not participate in training camp, has been out all season due to a foot injury suffered during the preseason. Although he was eligible to come off the physically unable to perform list last week, his return remains uncertain.
Caserio added that, after that period, the team will likely decide if Mixon will be able to return this season. “We’re taking it day by day, but I think once we get to that period, we’ll probably have a better idea of what the rest of the year will be like,” he said. Mixon, in his second year with the Texans, ran for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. The 29-year-old player has had five 1,000-yard seasons in his eight-year career, which began in Cincinnati. In Mixon’s absence, the Texans have been splitting carries between veteran Nick Chubb, in his first season with Houston, and rookie Woody Marks.“I think in the next few weeks we’ll have a better idea,” Caserio commented. “He’s progressing, so we’re not going to set a specific timeline. In the next three or four weeks we’ll probably get more information and see how he’s progressing.”
