Texans Release Trent Brown After Injury Uncertainty
The Houston Texans have made the decision to release veteran offensive lineman Trent Brown, after he spent the entire preseason on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list due to a knee injury.
Brown, who signed a one-year, $3 million contract with Houston during the offseason, was unable to participate in any training during training camp.
Last season, Brown only played three games with the Cincinnati Bengals, after suffering a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee.
In addition to Brown, another offseason acquisition might not be on the Texans’ roster for Week 1. Left tackle Cam Robinson is the subject of trade talks.
Robinson also signed a one-year contract with Houston, worth up to $14.5 million. This signing came a week after the Texans traded Pro Bowl tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders last March.
Robinson was expected to start in Houston, after spending the first 7 and a half years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, before the Minnesota Vikings acquired him in Week 9 of last season. However, during training camp, he suffered a minor knee injury that kept him out for a couple of weeks.
During Robinson’s absence, rookie Aireontae Ersery, a second-round pick by the Texans in 2025, stood out at left tackle, having played both left and right tackle early in training camp. With Robinson in trade talks, the Minnesota rookie is set to start at left tackle.
