In a tense encounter, Steelers’ defensive back Jalen Ramsey was ejected from the field after hitting Bengals’ wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. The incident occurred with just over 12 minutes left in the final quarter of Sunday’s game.
The situation originated after a previous play, in which both players were penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct on a third-and-one play. The verbal confrontation between Ramsey and Chase continued during a timeout requested by the Bengals, culminating in Ramsey’s punch.
Ramsey was escorted off the field by a Steelers staff member. Offensive lineman Broderick Jones tried to calm him down before Ramsey headed to the locker room.
The expulsion occurred shortly after Ramsey moved to the slot cornerback position due to an injury to Brandin Echols. Ramsey had started the game as a safety, but adapted to cover Echols’ absence, with Chuck Clark coming in as safety. The Steelers faced the game without their starting cornerback, Darius Slay, who is in the concussion protocol.
