Sirianni Addresses A.J. Brown’s Concerns After Eagles Victory

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni has responded to A.J. Brown’s recent statements after Sunday’s game, expressing his belief that the star receiver wants to stay in Philadelphia. Sirianni suggested that any frustration Brown may be feeling is related to his desire to contribute to the team’s success.

“Obviously, A.J. is very important to this football team,” Sirianni said. “I know he wants to contribute and do the things he’s capable of. He wants to contribute to these wins, and he’s had a couple of games where he hasn’t been able to do that for different reasons. I don’t question anything about his desire to play great football, his desire to be a good teammate, his desire to be here.”

Brown had a discreet performance in the 31-25 victory against the Buccaneers, with only two receptions for 7 yards in nine attempts. The Eagles’ aerial game stalled in the second half, allowing the Buccaneers to close the score. After the match, Brown chose not to speak to reporters. Subsequently, he posted a biblical quote on his social media that said: “If you are not welcome, they do not listen to you, retreat in silence. Do not make a spectacle. Shrug your shoulders and go your way.”

Brown’s season start has been relatively quiet, with 14 receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown on 28 attempts. His average of 10.8 yards per reception is below his career average of 15.6. In all but one game, he has been limited to 27 yards or less. In Week 3 against the Rams, he stood out with 6 receptions, 109 yards, and 1 touchdown, when the Eagles were forced to open up the game in the second half. Last week, Brown commented: “Personally, I think we have a lot of good players on this team, and sometimes you can feel like we’re being conservative. I don’t think it should be that way. I think we should let our killers do their thing and play fast and aggressive. I’m not saying we haven’t done it, but personally, that’s what I’d like.” The Eagles, despite being outgained in yards in all four games, maintain a 4-0 record. They are the second team in the last 90 years to start 4-0 and be outgained in yards in all four games, along with the 2012 Cardinals.
