Joe Burrow Will Not Play Against the Patriots; Flacco Continues as Starter

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will not be on the field this Sunday against the New England Patriots. A source confirmed to Alofoke Deportes that Burrow will remain on the injured list and will not be activated before the Saturday deadline at 4 p.m. ET. This means that Joe Flacco will start his sixth consecutive game with the Bengals. Burrow had been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, after showing significant progress in his recovery from a toe injury that has kept him out since Week 2. The two-time Pro Bowl player participated fully in Wednesday and Thursday’s practices, before being limited on Friday.

He did everything he could to put himself in a position to play.

Zac Taylor, Bengals Coach
Bengals coach Zac Taylor explained that Burrow did everything possible to be ready to play. However, the decision was made to keep Burrow out for at least one more week. The Bengals have two games in five days, including a matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving Day. Taylor emphasized the importance of considering the complete situation, including the tight game schedule. Burrow, for his part, has shown aggression in his recovery from previous injuries, such as the calf injury in 2023. For Taylor, the decision was also based on what is best for Burrow. “I have to take into account what is best for him,” Taylor said. “He’s coming back from an injury. He’s been out for a long time. I know he has the right mentality and has done everything he could physically.” The Bengals, with a 3-7 record, have lost seven of eight games since Burrow was injured in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cincinnati is looking to break a three-game losing streak this Sunday against the Patriots, who have a 9-2 record.
