Shedeur Sanders Remains Optimistic in the Quarterback Competition

Amidst the intense competition for the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback position, rookie Shedeur Sanders has maintained a positive attitude and focused on his personal development. During the mandatory minicamp, Sanders has practiced with a group of substitutes, while Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel have received more opportunities with the first team. However, Sanders has not been affected by this situation and has expressed his determination to make the most of every opportunity presented to him.

“Life is based on how you see things,” Sanders said. “So you can see things as not getting reps in a negative way or you can see it as, OK, when it’s my time to go out there, let’s be proactive and get going.”

Shedeur SandersSanders, selected in the fifth round of the draft, and Gabriel, the team’s third-round pick, shared most of the practice repetitions in the team’s drills on Tuesday. Coach Kevin Stefanski explained that this was intentional, as the team seeks to develop its young quarterbacks. Stefanski has praised the progress of both young passers, downplaying the competition for the position that exists in each practice. Sanders has adopted a similar approach, focusing on his personal growth.

“My goal is to be the best teammate and be as polished as possible in all aspects,” Sanders stated. “I see things as I have time to grow and mature, and to understand the ins and outs of defenses and get a good view of the veterans in the room.”
