Shedeur Sanders Suffers Injury in Browns Training

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders suffered an oblique injury while throwing during Wednesday morning’s practice, according to the team. This situation sidelined him from the first day of joint practices with the Eagles.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski stated that Sanders felt discomfort in his oblique during warm-ups, leading to the cancellation of his participation in practice at the last minute.

A source close to the team revealed that Sanders will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.

Sanders was the only Browns quarterback who did not participate in the 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 team drills. Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Tyler Huntley took snaps during the session.

This injury adds to a series of physical setbacks that have affected the team’s group of quarterbacks, amid a competition for the position.

Before the training, Stefanski had mentioned that Sanders would be the starter in the second preseason game against the Eagles on Saturday, in case Pickett and Gabriel couldn’t play.

Sanders, selected in the 144th position of the 2025 NFL draft, was the starter in the Browns’ first preseason game, due to injuries to Pickett and Gabriel. In that game, Sanders completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns, playing 45 snaps.
