Antonio Brown Faces Attempted Murder Charges

Miami-Dade County police are seeking to arrest former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown on a charge of attempted murder. The accusation stems from a shooting in which Brown was allegedly involved during a celebrity boxing event in Miami last month. The arrest warrant establishes a charge of attempted murder with a firearm. In addition, it indicates that Brown must pay a bail of $10,000 and remain under house arrest until the trial. Brown was arrested by the police after gunshots were heard at the boxing event, organized by the streamer Adin Ross. In a video posted on social media, he was seen fighting with several people, and the gunshots were clearly heard after the altercation. The police released Brown after a few hours. The next day, Brown published an explanation on social media.

I was assaulted by multiple individuals who attempted to steal my jewelry and cause me physical harm. Contrary to some videos circulating, the police temporarily detained me until they received my version of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED. I will be speaking with my lawyer and my attorneys about filing charges against the people who assaulted me.

According to the arrest warrant, witnesses at the scene informed police officers that Brown was the shooter, and two bullet casings were found at the scene. Brown was not armed at the time of his arrest, but the man Brown allegedly hit during the altercation told police that Brown “began running towards him with a firearm” after the fight had already ended and shot him twice. The man identified Brown in the surveillance images and also stated that he has known him since 2022. This is the latest in a series of incidents on and off the field for Brown after the abrupt conclusion of his illustrious NFL career. Once seemingly headed for the Hall of Fame, the four-time All-Pro was traded by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019 to the Raiders after nine seasons with the team. However, Brown was released by the Raiders before playing a game; he injured his feet after entering a cryotherapy chamber barefoot, refused to wear his helmet, and posted a recorded voice message from then-coach Jon Gruden. He was signed by the New England Patriots and played one game before being released again, this time after a former coach filed a lawsuit against him for sexual assault. Brown played two seasons for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning his first Super Bowl in the 2020 season. However, he left the field in the middle of a game the following season, which effectively ended his career in Tampa and in the NFL.
