Brian Schottenheimer Addresses Micah Parsons Situation
Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer offered statements about Micah Parsons’ situation after Friday’s preseason game, where the player didn’t wear his jersey and lay down on a medical stretcher. Although Schottenheimer avoided going into detail about his meeting with Parsons, he stated that the player will be available for the game against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 4th. Schottenheimer admitted that Parsons could have limitations in his participation against the current Super Bowl champions if he plays.Parsons has not participated in training during the entire summer, amid a contractual situation that still shows no progress. The Cowboys seem willing to have Parsons play the season with the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, valued at $21.324 million. Parsons underwent an MRI on his back last Friday, the results of which were favorable. Schottenheimer indicated that, “at this moment,” Parsons is medically cleared to practice. The Cowboys will return to training on Friday, following the three days of rest required by league rules. The team will hold three practices before traveling to Philadelphia. At the end of the day, as soon as he can get out there, it’s great, but there will be a preparation plan for him. And when he lines up to play, do I think he would play 75 plays and on every play? Probably not. I don’t think that’s realistic. But I do think he can be very disruptive as we all know.

Schottenheimer added that “the best way to improve in football is to play football”, suggesting that Parsons’ participation on the field is ideal.Every day he can go out and do reps would be great, but I firmly believe that being around has helped him. Doing some of the walkthroughs and things like that, yes, it helps. There’s communication, there are signals coming from the sideline, there’s player-to-player communication, he’s getting all those things.
