In the quest for the perfect adaptation with the Steelers, Aaron Rodgers faces unexpected challenges, especially with regard to his equipment.

Rodgers’ Helmet Dilemma

The quarterback, after finding a possible fit in Pittsburgh, is facing a helmet issue. The model he used last season, the Schutt Air XP Pro Q11 LTD, was banned for not complying with the new NFL safety regulations. Rodgers has been practicing with the Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II, but he is not satisfied with it.

I don’t like it, no. I’m trying to change. We’re still in the process. It looks like a damn spaceship.

The player expressed his frustration with the helmet change during the summer minicamp.

Rodgers suffered an incident in the last practice of the Steelers’ camp at St. Vincent College, when he was stepped on by rookie defensive lineman Derrick Harmon. Despite the apparent discomfort, coach Mike Tomlin assured that it was nothing significant and that Rodgers continued working.

Frustrations at the Quarterback Position

While Rodgers deals with his helmet issue, rookie quarterback Will Howard faces complications due to an accident that fractured a finger on his throwing hand. Howard, who initially thought he had only hurt his finger, realized the seriousness of the situation during the next individual session. He described the injury as something that frustrates him, but he hopes to be back soon. The sixth-round player will not undergo surgery, but he uses a splint on his ring and little fingers of his throwing hand.

It sucks. Every ounce of me wants to be playing, and I’m sitting here doing nothing. It kills me, especially because of something that seemed stupid to me. It was just an accident, but things happen, and it’s about how you respond and how you handle adversity.

Will Howard
Howard described the injury as “week to week” and doesn’t know if he will be able to participate in the preseason games.
