Aaron Rodgers Avoids Surgery for Wrist Fracture, But His Participation is Uncertain

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not need surgery to repair the fracture in his left wrist, coach Mike Tomlin announced on Tuesday.

“Really, it’s just about securing and protecting her for her comfort and safety. And then, it’s about how functional she is,” Tomlin commented.

Tomlin indicated that Friday will be a crucial day to determine Rodgers’ availability for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

“We’ll see where the week takes us and we’ll take it day by day,” Tomlin added.

Rodgers did not participate in the second half of the Steelers’ 34-12 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, due to the injury suffered at the end of the second quarter. Tomlin revealed on Monday that Rodgers wished to return to the game. Mason Rudolph, who replaced Rodgers at quarterback, would be the starter against the Bears if the Steelers decide Rodgers is not fit to play.
