Ravens Cornerback Nate Wiggins Involved in Fight During Joint Practice
In an incident that shook the joint practice between the Baltimore Ravens and the Indianapolis Colts, Ravens’ starting cornerback Nate Wiggins was removed from practice after throwing punches in a fight involving several players. The altercation occurred during a punt practice, approximately 90 minutes after the session began. It all started when Keyon Martin of the Ravens pushed Colts running back Tyler Goodson at the end of a play. Goodson’s reaction caused Wiggins, who was on the sidelines, to run towards the scene and deliver several blows to Goodson. The situation escalated rapidly, with players from both teams, not directly involved in the play, joining the fight. It took time to separate the players in the middle of the field.Harbaugh added that this situation should be a “learning opportunity” for the team. Wiggins was sent to the Ravens’ facilities and watched the rest of the practice from a window. Tyler Goodson was also removed from the field, according to Harbaugh.“There’s an opportunity to handle those situations, how you’re going to handle them in a game,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh commented. “And we did it 99% of the time, but not on that play.”

Nnamdi Madubuike, Ravens defensive end, wasn’t on the field where the fight occurred, but he heard that “Nate was hitting someone.” Marlon Humphrey, Ravens cornerback, posted a video on Instagram where he asked Wiggins in the locker room about what happened on the field, but Wiggins did not respond. Wiggins, selected in the first round in 2024, recorded 32 tackles and deflected 13 passes last season, ranking second on the team. In addition, he returned his only interception 26 yards for a touchdown in the last game of the regular season. Wiggins is expected to replace Brandon Stephens in the starting lineup this season. The Colts coach, Shane Steichen, also commented on the incident: “You never want to see a fight. We always talk about that in the meetings, ‘We’re not going to fight.’ Obviously, there was a skirmish there, but I think the guys handled it well and everyone separated it and we went back to practice.” The Ravens kick off the preseason on Thursday, facing the Colts at M&T Bank Stadium.“We know that no matter what, you can’t get out of a joint practice without a fight. You have to defend your teammates. Obviously, it’s going to get tense, especially during the special teams phase. That’s a staple in joint practice. That’s the dog mentality of special teams. So it’s one of those things. At the end of the day, it’s all love,” said Camryn Bynum, Colts safety.
