Rashee Rice Awaiting NFL Decision on Possible Suspension
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – With the Kansas City Chiefs advancing in their training camp, receiver Rashee Rice revealed that he has not yet been notified by the NFL about a possible suspension for the 2025 season. If suspended by the league, the sanction would be related to the violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy, following the traffic accident in Dallas last year, in which Rice was involved. Last month, Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation for his involvement in the incident. A spokesperson for the NFL, Brian McCarthy, confirmed that the league has been closely monitoring the case, which remains under review. According to a statement from the Dallas County District Attorney’s office, Rice pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree felony offenses: collision causing serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury. Rice received deferred adjudication, and the case will be dismissed if he complies with probation.“Honestly, it’s still in process,” Rice stated after Saturday’s practice. “My legal team is handling that. The only thing I can do is focus on what I can control right now, and that is giving my best on the field.”

“I have completely changed. Honestly, you have to learn from these situations. I have taken the opportunity to learn from something like that.” Rice, 25, has fully participated in all Chiefs practices at the University of Central Missouri, after suffering an injury to the lateral collateral ligament of his right knee during Week 4 of last season. Once the NFL concludes its disciplinary process, Rice could face a multi-game suspension, which he would have to serve immediately. Should this occur, Rice vowed to stay in shape during his time away from the team.“I learned how valuable each opportunity and each moment is,” Rice added. “Being here, being able to be on the field and be coached by coach [Andy] Reid and having a great quarterback like [Patrick Mahomes], it’s a gift, a blessing.”

“This is my job, and this is what I love to do,” he affirmed. “Even when I can’t be with my team, I will keep working as hard as I can to get back with them as soon as possible.”
