Aidan O’Connell Suffers Wrist Injury During Preseason Game

Las Vegas Raiders backup quarterback Aidan O’Connell left Saturday night’s preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals with a right wrist injury. The injury occurred after a 10-play, 32-yard offensive series that culminated in a 52-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson at the start of the second quarter. After the play, O’Connell was attended to by the medical team on the sideline before heading to the locker room.

Raiders coach Pete Carroll stated on the television broadcast that the team will not know the severity of O’Connell’s injury until after the game.

O’Connell returned to the field later in the fourth with a cast on his right hand. Rookie Cam Miller took over the quarterback position. In his third season, O’Connell has had a rough training camp, with four turnovers, including three interceptions, in three preseason games. In the first quarter against Arizona, he suffered a “strip-sack” that led to a touchdown by Cardinals wide receiver Simi Fehoko.
