Brock Purdy and other key 49ers players in doubt for the game against the Rams

After Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy informed coach Kyle Shanahan that his injured toe was bothering him again. Purdy, who has been recovering from a toe injury, will be thoroughly evaluated on Monday to determine the severity of the situation. This casts doubt on his participation in the next game against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night.

“I hope we have more information today, but when players are sore on a Monday, you usually don’t worry too much,” Shanahan commented. “However, with a game on Thursday, the situation changes. I’m concerned about anyone who isn’t completely healthy right now, but we’ll need more information today to speculate accurately.”

Purdy, who returned to the field on Sunday after missing two games, completed 22 of 38 passes for 309 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. In addition, he lost a fumble. Despite the challenges, Purdy stated after the game that he did not feel any discomfort in his toe. However, he admitted that the injury might have affected his mechanics, leading him to make inaccurate throws. In addition to Purdy’s situation, the 49ers are facing other injury concerns before the game against the Rams. Wide receivers Ricky Pearsall (right knee) and Jauan Jennings (ribs) also suffered injuries in the game against the Jaguars. Pearsall was injured after falling on the sideline. Although the injury was initially thought to be not serious, further tests will be performed on Monday, and his participation in Thursday’s game is uncertain. Jennings, for his part, added a rib injury to the ankle and shoulder problems he was already suffering from. The player will be evaluated on Monday. Due to the short turnaround between games, the 49ers will issue their first injury report on Monday, estimating participation in practice. As is customary in short weeks, they will not hold high-speed practices before the game against the Rams.
