Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was released from police custody on Monday afternoon and will not face criminal charges, according to public records. This comes after his arrest on Friday for a felony weapons-related offense. Perryman, 32, had been held without bail since Friday night, after police stopped him for vehicle code violations. During a search of his vehicle, police found five firearms, including two assault rifles, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Perryman was scheduled to appear in Inglewood court on Tuesday morning, but Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman decided not to file criminal charges. Perryman was released around 1:00 p.m., and his record will indicate a detention instead of a full arrest.

I love Denzel. He has always done the right thing. He has never had any problems. He has a beautiful family, and we will let due process take its course.

Jim Harbaugh, Chargers coach
Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh visited Perryman in jail on Sunday. Harbaugh commented that Perryman was in good spirits. Perryman is in his second stint with the Chargers, after rejoining the team before the 2024 season. He is expected to start and play a significant role in the interior linebackers group.
