Michael Penix Jr. Suffers Knee Injury in Game Against the Panthers

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. suffered a knee injury during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

The injury occurred after an incomplete pass on third down, with 5:22 remaining in the third quarter. Penix Jr. tried to get up, but fell back to the turf and took off his helmet.

In the following offensive series for the Falcons, he was replaced by veteran Kirk Cousins.

Before leaving the game, the young quarterback completed 13 of 16 passes for 175 yards.

Penix Jr. had already suffered a bone bruise on his left knee in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers, which prevented him from playing the following Atlanta game against the Miami Dolphins. Cousins started in that game, which ended in a 34-10 defeat.
