The New England Patriots have made significant moves in their roster, focusing on the quarterback position and readjusting their receiving corps.
DeVito Strengthens Quarterback Position
The team has added former New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito after being released by his previous team. DeVito joins Drake Maye and Joshua Dobbs on the Patriots’ quarterback roster.
Bourne on the Road to Liberation
In parallel, the Patriots plan to release veteran wide receiver Kendrick Bourne. Although there were talks of a possible trade, these did not come to fruition.
Bourne, with nine seasons of NFL experience, accumulated 292 receptions, 3,714 yards, and 22 touchdowns throughout his career.
Before DeVito’s arrival, Bourne was one of eight receivers on the Patriots’ initial roster.
Bourne hasn’t practiced since August 1 due to an injury, but he was close to returning to the field.
In 2021, Bourne had his best season in the NFL, playing under the direction of coordinator Josh McDaniels in New England, where he recorded 55 receptions for 800 yards and five touchdowns. His versatility as a receiver added value to the team.
The San Francisco 49ers, the team Bourne played with between 2017 and 2020, could be interested in a reunion with the receiver.
