Devonte Wyatt Offseason Injury

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt suffered a left ankle injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season, according to coach Matt LaFleur. The injury occurred during the Packers’ game against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day. Tests confirmed the initial suspicions, and LaFleur indicated that the situation “didn’t look good.”

“Certainly, he’s a player who will be quite difficult to replace. I think it falls on everyone else to raise the level of their game,” LaFleur commented.

Wyatt, selected in the first round in 2022, is under contract until next season. His absence represents a challenge for the Packers’ defense, especially considering they no longer have Kenny Clark, who was traded before the start of the season. So far this season, Wyatt accumulated four sacks in 10 games and 27 tackles, including six for a loss of yards. In addition, he missed two games due to a knee injury. Colby Wooden and Karl Brooks are shaping up to be the leading defensive tackles for the Packers. Brooks, however, missed the last game due to an ankle injury. Rookies Warren Brinson and Nazir Stackhouse will also have an important role on the defensive line. On the other hand, Lukas Van Ness, also selected in the first round, continues to deal with a foot injury and still has no return date. Van Ness attempted to return to the field on November 23 against the Minnesota Vikings, but was only able to play six defensive plays. Van Ness commented that he expected to recover soon, but didn’t feel completely well. Now he is focusing on rehabilitation and hopes to return to the field as soon as possible.
