Nick Mangold, Ex-Jets Player, Needs a Kidney Transplant

Former New York Jets center Nick Mangold has made public his need for a kidney transplant due to chronic kidney disease. Mangold, who was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder in 2006, shared the news via social media and a team statement. Mangold, a member of the Jets’ Ring of Honor, revealed that he has been dealing with health problems and is currently undergoing dialysis.

This is not an easy message to share, but I want to be open about what has been happening with my health.

The former American football player expressed that, although he always knew this day would come, he hoped to have more time. He also mentioned that, unfortunately, no member of his family can donate a kidney at this time, so he is seeking help from the Jets community. Mangold needs a kidney donor with blood type O.
