Nick Chubb close to signing with the Texans
Star running back Nick Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, is on track to join the Houston Texans on a one-year contract. The news, which has generated great anticipation, was confirmed by sources close to the team. The officialization of the agreement is subject to the approval of Chubb’s medical examination, a crucial step before formalizing its incorporation.Chubb, who played for the Cleveland Browns for seven seasons, would join an already established running back corps in the Texans, led by Joe Mixon, also a two-time Pro Bowl selection. The team also has Dameon Pierce, Dare Ogunbowale, and the recent addition of Woody Marks, selected in the fourth round of the draft.
Chubb, selected in the second round of the 2018 draft, ranks third on the Browns’ all-time rushing yards list, accumulating 6,843 rushing yards.
Injuries have been a setback for Chubb. In the 2023 season, he suffered a knee injury that sidelined him, missing a large part of the season. Despite returning, he failed to regain his best form, and a foot fracture ended his season prematurely. In the eight games he played, Chubb ran for 332 yards, recording career lows in yards per attempt (3.3) and in percentage of carries that gained at least 10 yards (4.9%).
The Texans hope Chubb can regain his pre-injury form and form an explosive duo with Mixon, who accumulated 1,016 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in 2024, earning him a Pro Bowl selection.
