Medvedev Conquers Dubai for the Second Time, Griekspoor Retires Due to Injury

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Daniil Medvedev added his 23rd ATP singles title at the Dubai Championships, following Tallon Griekspoor’s withdrawal due to an injury in Saturday’s final. Griekspoor suffered a left hamstring injury on Friday, during his semifinal against Andrey Rublev, a match he won in two sets. However, he did not recover in time to play the final.

I haven’t been better, that’s for sure. I went to the hospital this morning and had some scans, which revealed something serious. It prevented me from going out on the court tonight and will keep me off the court in the coming weeks.

Medvedev secured his second title of the year, following his victory in Brisbane in January. This triumph also marks his second title in Dubai, after his win in 2023. It’s the first time he has won the same event twice.

That’s the most incredible thing. I had never done it in any city in the world and the first time I do it, it’s due to non-appearance.
