Free Agents and Possible Destinations: Analysis of Alofoke Deportes

The 2025 NFL offseason has reshaped the rosters of the 32 teams. Alofoke Deportes presents an analysis of the free agents still without a team and of players who could be traded before the start of training camps in July.

We evaluate each player’s adaptation to a scheme, their immediate impact, and the team’s ability to accommodate their salary within the salary cap. Generally, at this stage, contracts are for one year with incentives to maximize earnings. Below, we present the possible destinations for these veterans.

  • The following are the players in alphabetical order by section.

Free Agents with Possible Teams

Keenan Allen, WR

Best fit: Arizona Cardinals

Although Allen is not as dynamic as before, he has proven to be a shrewd route runner. In Arizona, he could be a reliable option for Kyler Murray, competing with Zay Jones and Michael Wilson for opportunities. Despite a heel injury that kept him out of two games in 2024, Allen had at least 60 receptions for the eighth consecutive season.

Julian Blackmon, S

Best fit: Buffalo Bills

Blackmon’s skillset fits with Buffalo’s defensive coverages. He could be an upgrade over Damar Hamlin, with his ability to make plays on the ball. He had three interceptions with the Colts last season and over 85 tackles in each of the last two seasons. This signing looks to add range and playmaking ability to the Bills’ defense.

Amari Cooper, WR

Best fit: New York Jets

The Jets need competition in their receiving corps. Cooper could compete for a spot, and be a reliable target for Justin Fields on play-action plays. In 14 games last season, he caught 44 passes for 547 yards and four touchdowns. In nine seasons, he has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards seven times and has achieved 64 touchdowns.

J.K. Dobbins, RB

Best fit: Washington Commanders

Finding an ideal spot for a veteran running back isn’t easy. Dobbins, with his injury history, could compete with Brian Robinson Jr. as the running back on early downs. He had a career-high in rushing yards (905) and tied his career-high in rushing touchdowns (9) last season.

Rasul Douglas, CB

Best fit: Seattle Seahawks

In Seattle, Douglas would compete for the No. 3 cornerback position. Douglas is a physical cornerback with the length to contest the ball and the willingness to stop the run (five tackles for loss last season). He has the skills to play zone coverage and used his physicality to challenge receivers. He had one of his five interceptions for a touchdown in 2023.

Mike Hilton, CB

Best fit: Atlanta Falcons

Hilton, a cornerback who plays with urgency, would immediately upgrade the Falcons’ nickel package. He has great ability playing in space, with the aggressive mindset to tackle and blitz. Hilton has recorded 13 interceptions, 11.5 sacks, and 34 passes defended in eight NFL seasons.

Aaron Rodgers, QB

Best fit: Pittsburgh Steelers

Everything indicates that Rodgers is heading to Pittsburgh, where he will have a solid ground game base under coordinator Arthur Smith. The quick game will also play an important role, given Rodgers’ speed and his vision of the field. His main target would be receiver DK Metcalf. Rodgers threw 28 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions in 2024.

Asante Samuel Jr., CB

Best fit: Miami Dolphins

With the possible departure of Jalen Ramsey, Samuel could reinforce the Dolphins’ secondary. When healthy, Samuel has a game-changing mentality and uses his speed to break up the ball. He had six interceptions and 26 passes defended in four seasons with the Chargers.

Justin Simmons, S

Best fit: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Simmons fits well as an interchangeable safety alongside Antoine Winfield Jr. in Todd Bowles’ defense. Simmons has intercepted 32 passes in his nine-year career, including two last season.

Za’Darius Smith, Edge

Best fit: Detroit Lions

The Lions need a veteran at the Edge position. Smith was productive after being traded to Detroit last season. In eight games with the Lions, he had four sacks and 20 pressures. He is a speed rusher who can get one-on-one matchups on the interior.

Kyzir White, LB

Best fit: Tennessee Titans

White is a linebacker with running and hitting characteristics, who recorded nine tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks last season with the Cardinals. He has the speed to pursue the ball, with six interceptions and 16 passes defended in his career.

Possible Transfers

Jaire Alexander, CB

Best fit: Los Angeles Chargers

If Alexander is available, he would be an upgrade to Jesse Minter’s defensive system. Alexander has the play instincts and speed to match routes. He has intercepted 12 passes and defended 57 in his career.

Trey Hendrickson, Edge

Best fit: Green Bay Packers

Hendrickson is refusing to play with the Bengals until he receives a new contract. Green Bay would be the perfect place for him, as he would combine with Rashan Gary. Hendrickson is a relentless defender, with a wealth of resources and the ability to make plays. His 17.5 sacks and 65 pressures were the highest in the league in 2024.

Description: Orlovsky: Bengals are not Super Bowl contenders without Hendrickson. Pat McAfee and Dan Orlovsky talk about Trey Hendrickson’s contract dispute with the Bengals.

Jalen Ramsey, CB

Best fit: Los Angeles Rams

The Rams could use Ramsey’s skills, as his speed and ball production would improve their secondary. Ramsey can match patterns vertically and has great vision in zone coverage. He would also give Los Angeles more flexibility in secondary packages, because he can create disruptive plays as a nickel cornerback. He had 2 interceptions, 8 passes defended, and 6 tackles for loss last season.
