What our NFL reporters have seen this week

Dallas Cowboys

Micah Parsons did work on the field on Wednesday, after feeling better from his back. He participated in individual quarterback pressure drills and “cut the edge” simulations. He helped as a center in some tasks. The Cowboys will have a training session on Thursday to close out the preseason program and will report to Oxnard, California, on July 20. Their first training session will be on July 22. Will Parsons participate if a long-term agreement is not reached?

Miami Dolphins

Bradley Chubb has been disruptive since returning to training. Chubb says he is fully recovered from the knee injuries that forced him to miss the 2024 season. He earned the team’s orange jersey for Wednesday’s practice, which signifies the “MVP” from the previous day. Chubb feels that 2025 could bring good results with Chop Robinson and Jaelan Phillips.

Minnesota Vikings

Josh Metellus is entering a crucial stage. With one year remaining on his contract, he is competing for a starting safety position. Metellus played 2,113 defensive snaps over two seasons, representing 90.1% of the Vikings’ defensive plays, while Harrison Smith and Camryn Bynum occupied the traditional safety positions. Bynum’s departure to the Colts has opened up a starting position. Metellus is partially participating in training due to negotiations for a new contract.

I had to find a way to fit in somehow. But at the end of the day, I got to this league as a safety. That will always be my true position.

Carolina Panthers

Tetairoa McMillan did not participate in Wednesday’s practice as a precaution, due to swelling in his leg after taking a hit on Tuesday. Xavier Legette, the Panthers’ first pick in 2024, impressed, achieving consecutive touchdown receptions in a red zone drill. Coach Dave Canales commented that Legette is more comfortable in the system.

New York Jets

Justin Fields had a varied performance on Wednesday. He threw incomplete passes, connected with Garrett Wilson on a 50-yard pass, placed the ball perfectly for a touchdown, and showed speed on some designed runs. The goal in camp is to gain consistency. Fields is receiving praise for his quiet leadership and having no competition.

Indianapolis Colts

Daniel Jones is taking advantage of Anthony Richardson Sr.’s absence during the Colts’ three-day camp, making several notable throws. Jones connected with Tyler Warren for an impressive play and found Michael Pittman Jr. for a touchdown. Colts coaches have emphasized that Jones is still mastering the system.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons focused on simulations in the last two days of the minicamp. James Pearce Jr. and Billy Bowman Jr. had opportunities. Coach Raheem Morris expects both Pearce and Jalon Walker to play a lot in 2025, as well as Bowman and Xavier Watts.

They are really good players, they are really smart, they are really detailed.

Washington Commanders

Noah Brown limped off the field and was carted away after a play during a seven-on-seven drill on Wednesday. It is unknown what caused the injury, but Brown had to come down to catch a pass. Brown, who was having a good spring, was effective at drawing penalties.

Cincinnati Bengals

Andrei Iosivas was the receiver of Joe Burrow’s best play in the minicamp. In a 7-on-7 drill, Burrow threw a pass to Iosivas, who caught the ball between three defenders. Offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher sees Iosivas developing alongside Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase.

You see the chest out. You see how he behaves. Like, he thinks he’s like those other two guys. And he’s taking steps to get there.

Tennessee Titans

Will Levis might have disadvantages in the competition with Cameron Ward. Levis had three of the best passes of the day on Wednesday, including a pass to Calvin Ridley. Coach Brian Callahan commented that Levis has done a good job during the offseason.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Brian Thomas Jr. suffered a contusion on his right shoulder on Wednesday. Coach Liam Coen said the injury was not serious. Thomas was injured while trying to catch a pass from Trevor Lawrence. This is good news for the Jaguars, considering that Thomas finished third in the NFL in receiving yards in 2024.

New England Patriots

The Patriots concluded their mandatory minicamp, with Will Campbell as the primary left tackle. Campbell and the rookie class will remain in the area for a few more weeks. Campbell said he feels more comfortable and is planning a short break before the start of training camp on July 23rd.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Aaron Rodgers wasn’t the only new face at the Steelers’ minicamp. DK Metcalf was also present. Rodgers and Metcalf began to develop a connection during a workout in March.

Arizona Cardinals

Calais Campbell has made his presence felt. During defensive line drills, Campbell offered advice to Dalvin Tomlinson. Tomlinson said the defensive line has developed a brotherhood.

Seattle Seahawks

Sam Darnold has a competitive side, according to coach Mike Macdonald and Julian Love. Macdonald used the same phrase to describe Darnold’s competitiveness.

Los Angeles Chargers

Rashawn Slater made his first appearance at Chargers training. Slater, eligible for a contract extension, is in the last year of his rookie contract. Jim Harbaugh said Slater passed his conditioning test.

Houston Texans

The defensive ends caused problems for the offensive tackles. Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr. got to quarterback C.J. Stroud in under 3 seconds on several occasions. DeMeco Ryan’s defense prides itself on pressuring quarterbacks.

Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen returned to training after missing the team’s voluntary activities. Allen got married on May 31st. Coach Sean McDermott highlighted that Allen is the team leader.

Philadelphia Eagles

Saquon Barkley said his body feels good. Barkley said he took some time off and didn’t overdo it in his post-Super Bowl training. Barkley wants to be the best running back ever.

Denver Broncos

Coach Sean Payton favors receivers with good physiques in his offense, and Bo Nix benefited. Courtland Sutton and Pat Bryant made some of the most notable receptions in the drills. The Broncos know that opposing defensive coordinators will try to force Nix to work in areas of the field that he may not want to.
