Jalen Carter Avoids Further Suspension After Incident with Dak Prescott
The Philadelphia Eagles’ star player, Jalen Carter, will not face any further suspensions following the incident in which he spat at Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
The NFL announced this Tuesday that, since Carter was ejected from the season opener without participating in any plays, the league will consider that the second-year defensive tackle has already served a one-game suspension.
According to reports, Carter will forfeit his Week 1 game check, valued at $57,222. However, he will be available to play in the highly anticipated Week 2 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, in what will be a Super Bowl rematch.
The NFL Players Association also notified the league that Carter has waived his right to appeal the sanction.
In addition, the Eagles and Carter’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, reached an agreement for the team not to use the suspension to void guarantees in Carter’s contract or seek forfeiture of signing bonuses.
The incident occurred after the initial kickoff on Thursday, during an injury timeout for Eagles fullback Ben VanSumeren. At that moment, Carter and Prescott faced off, and Carter spat at Prescott as they were separated.
