Baker Mayfield Suffers Shoulder Injury, But Recovery is Promising
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has been diagnosed with a low-grade sprain in the AC joint of his left shoulder, according to reports. Despite the injury, no further damage has been detected, which offers an encouraging outlook for his recovery.
The news was revealed after Mayfield underwent an MRI on Monday. Although his status for the next game against the Arizona Cardinals remains uncertain, the long-term prospects are positive.
Mayfield suffered the injury during the Buccaneers’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. After leading the team on a drive that culminated in a touchdown at the end of the second quarter, the quarterback went to the medical tent on the sideline.
Initially, he was considered doubtful to return to the game, but he came back for Tampa Bay’s next offensive series.
In the last play of the first half, Mayfield attempted a long pass and fell to the ground, showing signs of pain. He was ruled out for the second half and was later seen on the bench with his left arm in a sling.
Teddy Bridgewater entered the game in his place and, if necessary, would be the starter in case Mayfield can’t play.
