Lions Adjust Alex Anzalone’s Contract

The Detroit Lions have modified linebacker Alex Anzalone’s contract for the 2025 season. This restructuring involves an increase in his base salary and the inclusion of incentives for the current season. According to sources, $250,000 was added to Anzalone’s base salary for 2025, raising it to $6.25 million, an amount that was also guaranteed. In addition, the Lions added incentives to Anzalone’s contract to increase his potential earnings during the current season.

Anzalone had expressed his disappointment with how the contract negotiations with the Lions had developed.

Anzalone, 30 years old, will become an unrestricted free agent after this season. In 2024, Anzalone started in the 10 games he played, recording the fourth-most tackles on the team (63), including seven for a loss of yards. The veteran, with eight years of experience in the league, has been a starter since joining the Lions in 2021. In four seasons with the team, he has accumulated 395 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and two interceptions.
