Josh Allen Honored in Wyoming: Jersey Retirement and Emotional Celebration
Laramie, Wyoming – The atmosphere at War Memorial Stadium was charged with emotion as the clock marked the end of the first half. Although Nevada led 7-0 over Wyoming, the attention of the sold-out crowd focused on a special guest stepping onto the field. Josh Allen, accompanied by his parents, Joel and Lavonne, and former Wyoming coach Craig Bohl, returned to Laramie for the first time since his Pro Day in 2018. This time, he did so as the last Cowboys football player to wear the number 17. On Saturday, during halftime of the game, his jersey was retired, making him the third athlete in Wyoming history to receive this honor, joining former basketball players Fennis Dembo and Kenny Sailors.

During the ceremony, Allen expressed his gratitude:“First of all, I want to thank everyone for coming tonight. It’s an incredible honor, a great blessing. There are many people I can thank for this achievement. Many teammates here. I love them. Coach Bohl, coach [Brent Vigen], people who believed in me. The fans and the support here in Wyoming. I feel very honored and blessed to represent this university and this beautiful state. I love you. Thank you. God bless you. Go Pokes, and it will always suck to be a CSU Ram”.
