Josh Allen Sets New NFL Record
In a dominant performance, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen left his mark on NFL history. During the matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Allen scored an 8-yard run in the final quarter, securing a 26-7 victory and setting a new league record. This touchdown represented number 76 in Allen’s career, an achievement that positions him as the historical leader in rushing touchdowns for a quarterback in the regular season. In addition to this milestone, Allen added his 49th game with a touchdown pass and a rushing touchdown, surpassing Cam Newton by four, the second closest player in this statistic. Allen, who equaled his personal best with three rushing touchdowns in Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reached this record in 123 games, while Newton did it in 145. With a total of 76 rushing touchdowns, Allen ranks second among all players since his arrival in the league in 2018, only surpassed by Derrick Henry, Ravens running back, who has 106. Of these 75 touchdowns, 27 were from the 1-yard line and 72 originated in the red zone.“I like it because it presents a different challenge for defenses,” Allen commented on his liking for running. “They have to consider the quarterback run, which means you get an extra blocker in the running game and it just makes them think about that. And even if we don’t use it much, the threat of it being there always helps the offense.”
