Josh Allen: Beyond the Super Bowl
Orchard Park, NY – Josh Allen, quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, has reflected on the pursuit of success in the NFL. Although the Super Bowl remains the professional goal, Allen’s perspective has evolved, prioritizing aspects beyond football. The question of how to overcome the Super Bowl barrier, a constant query for Allen, has found an answer in acceptance and trust in divine timing. “If I knew how to overcome that barrier, we would have already done it,” Allen commented, acknowledging the familiarity with this question, given the Bills’ persistent quest to reach the Super Bowl.Playoff losses, including the painful elimination against the Kansas City Chiefs, have left their mark. The loss in the 2024 AFC Championship, also against the Chiefs, rekindled the question of what went wrong. However, Allen, after an offseason with significant personal and professional successes, shares a different perspective on football and its place in life. With a promising start to the season for the Bills, Allen, in his eighth season, acknowledges that, although the Super Bowl is still the goal, he now values life in general more. You have to keep giving yourself opportunities, and I feel like, something I’ve learned for sure this past offseason is to trust in God’s timing. It’s never wrong, and when it’s meant to happen, it will happen, and you just have to keep putting yourself in situations where it can happen.

Allen’s image has expanded beyond the field, promoting various brands and strengthening his contract with the Bills. His marriage to actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld has been a significant event, highlighting the importance of family and personal decisions. Friendship with other quarterbacks, such as Kyle Allen of the Detroit Lions, reveals his dedication to football and his ability to enjoy life off the field. “When there’s football, he’s focused and… there’s no other quarterback who knows his offense better, who understands the defense that teams play better,” said Kyle Allen. “And then, when it’s over, he loves to have a good time. So, I mean, all his teammates can attest to that. He loves to have a good time, and in the offseason, I don’t know if we ever talk about football.”It has never been my goal to win the MVP. If anything, it has been to win the Super Bowl MVP. I think that’s the better of the two awards, and make no mistake, it’s a really cool honor. I really appreciate it, but it doesn’t change my life. It doesn’t change who I am, and at that point, probably… winning a Super Bowl doesn’t change who I am or change my life either. But it’s something the city has wanted for a long time and feeling like I can be a piece that brings it here, that’s more important to me than a single trophy.
